1 Sam 12 is a true reflection of how God gives us freewill and choice. God was insulted by the fact His people wanted a monarchy rather than a theocracy. They wanted man rather than God and being the Supreme Ruler that He is He let them have it their way. A constituency Israel probably still regrets.
But there is a particular verse that just left me breathless in thanksgiving. v22 For the Lord will not forsake his people, for His great name’s sake, because it has pleased the Lord to make you a people for himself.
Despite my own rebellions and the numerous times when I have put man over God or my selfish desires before His commandments, it still pleases God that I am His and His to keep on making. WHAT?!
A little instruction follows in v24 Only fear the Lord, and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you.
